Greg Fox
Hi, I'm Greg,

Previously, I was head of Copy at YETI. Before that, I worked as a creative director at Ogilvy, BBDO, and McCann. Clients include IBM, Verizon, Dickies, Huggies, Credit Karma, PGA Tour, WordPress, Stance, Dove, and several early age startups.

I also spent a good chunk of my early career walking all over the world as an underpaid travel writer. Fluent in Arabic and Spanish. Father of four little monsters. Mediocre angler. And winner of two Adam Sandler look alike contests.

Traveling

I'm always somewhere, up to something. I cut my teeth in the longform world early on, writing articles for in flight magazines and travel brochures, which were actually a thing at one point. This was all before the print industry fell off a cliff.

It's harder to get out now, but I try to spend as much time as possible in places where the street food feels like a gamble.

Dad Stuff

Four kids is a trip. The only way I can get through it with the love and equanimity a dad should have is to roast them in my writing. Sometimes people have a hard time understanding why. Usually, it's the people who don't have to hunt down tiny Crocs multiple times a day – or those who pretend they don't.

I love my kids. I really do. But roasting them is the only form of payback (or catharsis?) I have available to me.

Books

I'm always reading. People ask me about the books. Instead of yearly top lists that I enjoy reading more than writing, I keep a running tally here. David Foster Wallace is my patron saint. I also love Charles Portis, Raymond Carver and Charles D'Ambrosio, who is a national treasure. Charles, please for the love of God, publish some more stuff.

A Little Quiet In a Noisy World

I'm not active on social media. And there's little more in life I enjoy than some alone time. A few years back, I realized my mind was in a constant state of agitation. So many screens. So much news. This constant nagging of having to know and keep up with everything.

Today, I try to ground myself in the tangible, with objects, spaces, and people who come with clearly defined parameters. Slow and deliberate. A little quiet in a world that's way too noisy – at least for me.
